Climate Adaptation & Resiliency Plan (CARP)

The Monroe County Department of Environmental Services is developing a Climate Adaptation and Resilience Plan (CARP) that assesses the environmental, social, and economic conditions of the county and recommends policies, strategies, and programs to improve the resiliency of the County’s human and environmental services. The CARP builds on the efforts of Phase I and Phase II of the County’s Climate Action Plan, with a greater focus on the human and social sides of adaptation and resilience.

The CARP will consist of a countywide vulnerabilities assessment and include recommended policies, strategies, and programs to improve climate adaptation and resiliency for the future. County departments and the public will help to shape the priorities of the CARP and provide feedback on proposed climate adaptation and resiliency policies and strategies.

CARP PUBLIC WORKSHOP #1

WHAT?

We held two meetings: one virtual and one in person.

At these meetings we provided an outline and roadmap to completing the CARP in 2026, including an overview of the climate vulnerability assessment, explanations on climate-exacerbated hazards, and interactive portions for attendees to participate.

SURVEY LAUNCHED!

We also launched a survey for County residents to help us identify areas vulnerable to climate-exacerbated hazards within Monroe County and how these hazards have directly affected residents. The survey was open from November 18 to February 20 and will inform the vulnerability assessment.
